Globe, Japan’s KDDI partner to explore mobile, digital services

GLOBE TELECOM, Inc. has partnered with Japan’s telecommunications and digital services company KDDI Corp. to explore new mobile, retail, and digital services in the Philippines.
“This strategic partnership with KDDI gives us the opportunity to learn from one of the world’s most advanced telco and digital ecosystems, while bringing Globe’s deep understanding of the Filipino customer to the table. Together, we aim to explore new ways to make mobile services more relevant,” Globe President and Chief Executive Officer Carl Raymond R. Cruz said in a media release on Sunday.
Under the partnership, the companies will explore opportunities to expand mobile services, retail offerings, and digital solutions.
Through the collaboration, Globe will also assess KDDI’s business model in Japan, including revenue streams that integrate telecommunications with financial, entertainment, lifestyle, and other digital services.
“As we look toward 2027 and beyond, our goal is to create value that goes beyond connectivity and helps build a stronger, more inclusive digital ecosystem for the country,” Mr. Cruz said.
Globe said KDDI’s expertise is expected to complement its network capabilities and market reach in the Philippines.
“For Globe, the partnership is disruptive as it transforms ways for customers to experience the brand and build a digital ecosystem that delivers greater value, convenience, and care,” the company said. — Ashley Erika O. Jose
