PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. wants his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) to be “simple but dignified,” Malacañang said on Monday, signaling a scaled-down ceremony for next week’s annual address to Congress.
Palace Press Officer Clarissa A. Castro said preparations for the July 27 SONA are being coordinated with the House of Representatives, which hosts the annual joint session where the President delivers his speech.
“Because the House of Representatives is hosting the SONA, the call is to keep it simple,” Ms. Castro told reporters in Filipino.
She said there would be no celebrity directors or high-profile performers at the event, adding that the SONA would remain “simple but dignified.” — Erika Mae P. Sinaking
